    Gentle Yoga with
    Sherry Norman

     A gentle class to prepare you for Level 1 classes. Similar to restorative but with standing asana.

    So, you say you're not flexible? Join the club. Many factors can contribute to a less-than-bendy body, from genetics, lifestyle to the weather outside.  But that doesn't mean you should rule out yoga, the Yoga practice will help you feel calmer, sleep better, and yes, get more flexible.

    Major Workshop with Ty Chandler
    Feb 5, 6,7 - 2016

    We are looking forward to welcome Ty Chandler to the Yoga Studio South on Feb 5th 

    Ty's first exposure to Iyengar Yoga was in 1989 and she began the teacher training program at the Iyengar Yoga Centre of Victoria in 1997 under the guidance of Linda Benn.

     She studies weekly with Shirley Daventry French and other Senior teachers. Ty continues her training by travelling to Pune to study with the Iyengars and yearly to Blacons, France to study with Faèq and Corrine Biria. 

     Ty serves on the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada's PD Committee, is a national assessor and trains teachers at the Victoria Iyengar Yoga Centre.  

    Ty is known for her strong, precise teaching and her warm encouraging style. She blends physically demanding asana work with clear verbal instruction while encouraging students to stay connected to their own experience.

     Friday: 6:00-8:00pm
     Saturday/Sunday: 1:00-5:00pm
    Calm before the Christmas - Sherry Norman
    Dec 20 6-8pm
    Treat yourself (or someone you love) to an energizing and yet deeply calming yoga practice. Amid candles and beautiful Christmas music we will begin with gentle yoga that will warm and soften the body, followed by restorative postures and breath work that will open the heart and uplift the spirits.
    The workshop is an opportunity to nourish ourselves so that we can be fully present to spirit and joy of giving as well as receiving.
    Early registration is recommended as space is limited (The maximum we can take is 15)

    Signs of a good Savasana - BKS Iyengar
    In a good Savasasana there is a feeling of shrinkage of the skin and muscles for Savasana is after all movement of inward withdrawal.  There is at the same time feeling of elongation of the limbs and the body.  Elongation is felt through out the body but especially in the upper arm just above the elbows and in the calves just below the knees.
    A feeling of being suspended on a thin line awareness is also present.  The best sign of a good Savasana is the feeling of deep mental peace and pure bliss.

    Savasana is alert surrender of the ego.  One discovers oneself in forgetting oneself!
