"Kirtan is for all people. There are no experts, no beginners. The practice itself is the teacher, guiding us to ourselves. Kirtan allows us to enter into a mystery world-a world where all the logic of our minds, and all of the conditioning are left aside. With Kirtan, we create a temple inside the altar of our hearts, a place of refuge, a place of love, and a place of just being." -Jai Uttal"

``An asana is not a posture which you assume mechanically.  It involves thought, at the end of which a balance is achieved between movement and resistance`` B.K.S. Iyengar

Pranayama the Iyengar way :  with Samantha Lloyd
    Dec 7, 1pm - 4pm
    Wellington Sq.

    Samantha Lloyd
Yoga Studio South is excited to host Samantha Lloyd for a Pranayama workshop. Teaching from the premise that the Pranayama begins with a deep understanding and connection to Savasana, this 3-hour workshop is ideal for anyone with an asana practice that wants to learn about or deepen their experience of Pranayama.
Samantha will be sharing her passion for Pranayama practice as taught in the Iyengar Yoga tradition. She has been a long-time Iyengar yoga student, teacher trainer and member of the Calgary Iyengar community. It's over this time spent with senior teachers here and abroad that she developed her practice and love of Pranayama.

practice makes the body fit for pranayama, and pranayama practice makes the mind fit for meditation.
Three stages of the breath in pranayama-inhalation (puraka), retention (antara kumbhaka), and exhalation (rechaka)-can connect us to the universal soul, " BKS Iyengar

Raw chocolate workshop - Ruth Martin
Nov 23, 1-3pm at Wellington Sq.

Ruth will be once again present her popular Raw chocolate workshop at the Yoga Studio, all those who were fortunate enough to taste her heavenly peanut butter cups are eagerly awaiting the second batch of those magical treats.

Besides pleasing your taste buds, Raw chocolate also does a wonderful job for your overall health. With the delicious Raw chocolates you can have your cake and eat it too, guilt free : )

Here are some of the benefits of Raw cacao:

As it turns out, Raw Cacao, the real unprocessed cacao bean, is considered by David Wolfe and many other healthy food experts as the healthiest food in the world, nothing less!

    Its resume is absolutely stunning:

    -          It's absolutely off the charts in antioxidants. In fact, it has the highest concentration of any food known to man. As basis for comparison, it is 20 times more concentrated in antioxidants than 70% cocoa chocolate, and about 15 times more than green tea and red wine.

    -          It has the highest concentration of several key nutrients, including iron and magnesium. This is significant because up to 80% of Westerners are deficient in magnesium, which has been linked with the vast majority of the chronic disease that plague our society.
