     Kate Gerry
    Are you training for a competitive sport or participating in active recreation? Interested in injury prevention? Then this the class is for you!
    Join Physiotherapist, Kate Gerry, for a fun class that opens with a energetic practice and closes with some restorative poses.
    Combine breath and movement to create robustness of the body and focus of the mind. Balance activity with rest. Speed and recovery between training sessions. Decompress the spine and joints to create a spring in your step, more speed and greater power. Come, realign and feel divine.

    July 22, 2013 was the Guru Purnima Day - in Yoga tradition this Full moon day is reserved for paying respects to your Gurus and Teachers. The purpose of the Guru Purnima celebration is to turn back and review and see in this last one year how much one has progressed in life. For a seeker, Guru Purnima is a day of significance. It is the day to review one's progress on the spiritual path and renew one's determination and focus on the goal. We at Yoga Studio South would like to pay our respects our Gurus BKS Iyengar and Margot Kitchen.

    Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, is considered one of the most important and influential yoga teacher of our time.

    At 94 years he is still practicing and teaching in the city of Pune, India.His 78 years of intense practice and innovations have been important in the worldwide development of Yogic discipline.
    No matter what style of yoga you practice, whether it's Ashtanga or Anusara Yoga, your yoga has been influenced by B.K.S. Iyengar. The huge popularity of yoga in the West can in large part be attributed to Mr. Iyengar, who first introduced his style of yoga to the United States several decades ago. Many of his innovations are standard features today: He molded the way we think about alignment and developed anatomically precise terms to convey it; pioneered the use of props as learning tools.

    Although he received numerous awards, he has never lost the humility and simplicity.

    His teaching is based on the text of the Yoga Sutras , written by Patanjali in 2500 a few years.
    At Yoga Studio South we are striving hard to bring 
     these very teachings through our highly trained teachers and the weekend workshops with guest teachers.
